



















Prehistory Ukrainian culture is very often associated with national embroidery – which is one of the most remarkable types of handicraft of Ukrainian women and girls. Most frequently the embroidery depicted geometrical figures, plants and animals. The most widely used colors are black and red. The black color symbolizes sadness and grief, while the red one – love. Embroidery is not only a product made by skillful craftsmen from the people, it’s also a storehouse of national beliefs, traditions and customs, spiritual aspirations, the intellect of Ukrainian people. Modern Ukrainian embroidery is the result of unique spiritual-material evolution of our people. There are a lot of embroidery techniques, but the “cross” embroidery has gained the most of popularity and usage.
